Mother Daughter Sewdown at Ponderosa

Happy Friday!

This time last Friday I was headed to my mom's house to hop in the car and make the trek to Waynesville, NC to spend the weekend sewing with friends at the Ponderosa Quilt Retreat Center. Kim, our Moda rep and owner of the retreat center, encouraged us to come and visit and we thought it would be fun to spend a weekend sewing with some other mother-daughter teams.

And it was really fun.  :-)

Of course, we did a little fabric shopping at some local places in the Asheville area, ate lunch at the Veranda Cafe in Black Mountain (which was super yummy), and then headed over to the Ponderosa house.

I walked in and saw this ...

Sewing heaven y'all!  Lots of space to spread out your sewing paraphernalia while still chatting it up with everyone.  And do you see those bookshelves?  Like every sewing pattern and book known to the crafting universe was there.

One of the things I loved about Ponderosa was that all the tools were there .... cutting mats, rulers, what seemed like every tool you could want, an Accuquilt with a nice selection of dies, several ironing stations, design walls.  The list goes on.  All you needed was fabric and your machine.

We took turns on meals to maximize our sewing time.  The open floor plan let everyone stay involved in all the action even while prepping meals. :)

Truly, this was an awesome place to sew for the weekend!  :-)

And in case you were wondering, the accommodations were nice too.  /

(Sorry for the dark photos .... the sun was going down when I was running around the house snapping photos!)

And there is even a nice porch in case you needed a break from your machine.

We made a lot of stuff too (including my awesome Super Tote) ... check out Lee's and Nicole's recaps on our weekend.  We're already planning to go back in a few months!

Happy Sewing!  :-)
